I’m Shahid, a senior software engineer and solutions architect. For 10+ years I’ve designed and built POS, delivery, HR, call center and SaaS platforms — from the cashier’s counter to the rider’s phone to the owner’s dashboard.

Case study: one restaurant chain, eight connected apps
HG takes orders from its website, its app, phone calls and Foodpanda, and runs kitchens, riders and staff across many branches. I designed one backend that every app talks to, led the team that built the apps around it, and still lead its development today.

Ordering website
For customers
Server-rendered ordering site with zone-based pricing, vouchers, guest checkout and online payments through PayFast.

Android and iOS ordering app with live order tracking, push notifications and catering orders.
Call center portal
For CSR agents and admins
Order desk for phone orders, rider dispatch, branch setup, sales reports by channel, Odoo sync and PRA/FBR fiscal invoices.

Android POS with four roles and shift control. Keeps working offline and prints KOTs and receipts through a retrying printer queue.

For delivery riders
Assigns orders by zone, distance, time slot and route, enforces capacity limits, and only lets riders complete a delivery at the customer’s location.

My role: Architect & lead developer
- Separate sign-in for office staff and employees — employees use native Google sign-in on Android, no passwords to manage
- One active device per employee, so attendance can’t be marked from a shared phone
- Managers move staff between branches, change shifts and request status changes from the app; HR approves in the portal
- Recruitment intake, change-request approvals, attendance export and an activity log for every edit

- Offline-first: tickets are kept in IndexedDB and synced when the connection returns
- Serial print queue for KOTs, receipts and shift reports that retries when a printer is offline
